VOLUNTEER HIGHLIGHTS #1

MEG EDWARDS

Meg goes above and beyond when volunteering at The Gathering. She has been volunteering at our Running Rebels mealsite 3 days a week since the start of pandemic. Meg sees when something needs to be done and she just does it. For example she steps up and takes the lead cook role when we are low on staff. Her spirit of giving and warm heart make her a joy to be around. Meg provides a ride to and from work for Mr. Ford every time she comes to volunteer at our Running Rebels meal site. The team that work along side her describe her a a leader, hard-working, kind and generous person. Thank you Meg for all this years of support, you mean a lot to us!

JILL KORTEBEIN

Jill started volunteering with her church and family and then came back as a regular during the pandemic. Because she volunteered so often and was such a natural leader, we asked her to train to be a coordinator. She has coordinated every month since then. This year, she volunteered all five Saturdays in September either as a coordinator or as part of a serving team when there was a need. She has volunteered at all three of our meal sites. She is cheerful, funny, highly organized and a gentle and inspiring leader.

MARIAN BYERS

We want to shine a spotlight on a remarkable volunteer whose dedication and compassion have made a significant impact at The Gathering. Marian Byers, has been a huge part of our mission to feed the homeless and hungry, generously offering her time and energy.
Marian helps with preparation of nutritious meals in the early hours of the morning, ensuring that every plate is filled with care and love, and distributing meals with genuine empathy. Her commitment to serving others shines brightly here at The Gathering. We appreciate Marian greatly! Thank you so very much.

MONNETE HARMON

Monette Harmon started volunteering with The Gathering in 2020, right as the pandemic was forcing us indoors. She has volunteered regularly at our Ascension site, and has organized toiletry drives and giveaways every year since joining us. This year she included hats, gloves, socks and clothes in her massive Thanksgiving giveaway at our Ascension mealsite. She is full of love and exuberant care for our guests. Just recently she started taking left over meals to the tent cities on Fond du Lac Avenue and at the Holt Avenue Park and Ride.
Thanks so much for your kind assistace!!
