Building Community Beyond the Workplace: Rockwell Automation
When the Rockwell team gathers to serve at The Gathering, it’s more than just volunteering — it’s an opportunity to connect with the community and with one another in a meaningful way.
For Rockwell team member, Susan Fernandes, the connection to The Gathering began years ago. Before serving with her coworkers, Susan had volunteered alongside her family at another Gathering site on Saturday mornings. Those experiences stayed with her and helped inspire her continued involvement today.
As a team, Rockwell employees already serve in many different capacities throughout the community, making volunteerism a natural extension of their workplace culture. Coming together to serve meals at The Gathering has created another way for colleagues to support one another while making a direct impact on guests.
Susan shared that serving together allows the team to step away from the office environment and connect on a more personal level. Working side by side in service strengthens relationships, builds teamwork, and reminds every one of the importance of community.
When asked to describe The Gathering, Susan reflected on the welcoming and dependable experience it provides for guests and volunteers alike. Words like “community strength,” “welcoming,” and “consistent experience” stood out as the heart of what makes The Gathering so meaningful.
Through their continued service, the Rockwell team demonstrates how volunteering together can strengthen not only a workplace team, but also the wider community around them.
