Food Produce Preservation Project

The Fresh Produce Preservation Project (FPPP), launched in 2010, supports The Gathering’s mission to feed the hungry with respect and dignity. This seasonal initiative, running from August through November, collects donations of fresh fruits and vegetables from area farmers and other food sources.

Donated produce is preserved through canning and freezing for use in winter meals, when fresh options are less available. By incorporating more fruits and vegetables into our menu year-round, FPPP helps increase the nutritional value of our meals and expands the healthy food options available to our guests.

67% of Milwaukee residents do not consume the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables daily.
